Julie Woodley is the founder and director of Restoring the Heart Ministries, Inc. A speaker, author, and counselor, Julie holds an M.A. in counseling and a certificate in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary. She is also currently finishing her M.Div., and her Chaplain Training. Julie is a certified trauma counselor and was ordained in 2000.
Julie was inducted into the Suffolk County Women's Hall of fame in 2009. She received the following awards: A Certificate of Special Appreciation from the U.S. House of Representatives, (Congressman Steve Israel); A Proclamation from County Legislator Thomas Barraga-elected as an outstanding woman; A Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Tim Bishop (member of Congress); inducted into the Woman's Hall of Fame by County Legislator Lynne Nowick; New York State Assembly Citation by member of New York State Assembly Marc Alessi; A Proclamation from the Town of Brookhaven for overcoming a life of abuse and trauma and dedicating her life to others in the community; A New York State Assembly Citation from Member of Assembly Steven C. Englebright; A Proclamation from County Legislator Vivian Viloria-Fisher for her unwavering determination in spite of horrific experiences and obstacles to serve as a testament of her character and resolve.
Julie has had a very successful private practice for the past 17 years. She also works as a trauma counselor after bank robberies, suicides (all sorts of traumas). Her delight is to run towards people that have been placed in traumatic situations.
As a survivor of numerous traumatic circumstances, Julie's story has been aired on various radio programs including: Of Faith and Family with Dr. Richard Land, Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson, and Unshackled by Pacific Garden Missions, many other radio broadcasts including Moody radio, as well as the 700 club, within the next 2 months she will also be on Life Today. Julie draws from personal experiences and the healing she has found in Christ to share hope and healing with other victims of trauma.
Julie co-authored her life story, Restoring the Heart: Experiencing Christ's Healing after Brokenness with Mathew Woodley. She also wrote Post-Abortion Trauma: The Silent Side of Abortion with Mark Kretschmar, and Surviving the Storms of Life with Dr. H. Norman Wright and Mathew Woodley, as well as several articles on post-abortion trauma and childhood sexual abuse for various publications Julie also produced In the Wildflowers (for the healing of the trauma of childhood sexual abuse). The DVD series with curriculum is being used all over the country and now in other countries. She is also finishing the production of Into My Arms for those who want to heal from the pain of an abortion.
Julie's passion and calling is to become richly involved in the lives of others, inviting them to consider their own hearts and helping them discard the things that rob them of the joy that God has for them.
Julie's desire to reach women and men who have experienced childhood sexual abuse came out of her own healing, during which she created the In the Wildflowers curriculum series. For the past seven years, she has listened to the heartbeat of God each step of the way as He wove each piece of the process together.
